Pinkerton spies Cho-Cho San and immediately falls in lust. Barton counsels Pinkerton that he can 'marry' this beautiful Japanese girl, enjoy himself with cultural approval, then sail happily on back to America unshackled, since abandonment equates divorce in Japan. Barton assures Pinkerton that once abandoned, Cho-Cho will be free to marry whomever she chooses from amongst the Japanese people. When Pinkerton's ship sails out of port, Butterfly waits patiently for her husband to come home. Three years pass. Ever with her eye toward the harbor, Butterfly holds a secret delight that she eagerly wishes to surprise her husband with: their son. Pinkerton arrives in Japan with his American bride by his side. Storyline:
Madame DuBarry is a 1934 American historical film directed by William Dieterle and starring Dolores del Rio, Reginald Owen, Victor Jory and Osgood Perkins. The film portrays the life of Madame Du Barry, the last mistress of King Louis XV of France.[1] While this film does not serve accuracy to Madame Du Barry, it does feature antiques and jewelry that came from the actual days when Madame Du Barry lived. This film was released just as the Hays Code was taking full swing, and faced many problems with censors of the time. Scenes of this film had to be removed before its release or else it would have not been approved for release.

Storyline:
The daughter of a seamstress, Jeanne Bécu could hardly imagine she would later become one of the most influential women of the Kingdom of France. Nor could she anticipate her quick fall and tragic death. The teenage girl was still a mere milliner's assistant when her beauty attracted the attention of Count Jean du Barry, a degenerate noble man who, after making her his mistress, undertook to make her Paris's most successful courtesan. Later, he realized that he could even help her to become one of aging King Louis XV's mistresses. But to qualify as a royal mistress, Jeanne had to be a married noble woman. No problem: Jean, who was already married, provided another husband, his brother Guillaume. This is how Jeanne, who had become Countess du Barry with sleight of hand, could enjoy triumph at Versailles. Unfortunately for her, her reign, which had excited the jealousy of the other courtesans, lasted only while the King was alive. Following his death, she was immediately exiled from Versailles and two decades later was executed on the guillotine.

But that marriage ended because he treated her without love, which resulted in her leaving him for another man, who in turn passed away shortly thereafter. Her first marriage produced a son, who her husband refused to let her see. Her son never knew she was alive, he being told by his father that she died. Monsieur Dufresne, a debonair traveler from Paris, meets the singer Zaza at a train station in the provincial town in which she has come to perform. Enchanted by her beauty, Dufresne returns to the theater night after night, without ever attempting to meet her. Wildly curious about her mysterious admirer, Zaza badgers the songwriter Bussy to bring his friend Dufresne backstage. Dufresne is strangely reluctant to meet the object of his desire, however, and when he finally does come to her dressing room, he is amused by her obvious attempts to ensnare him. Zaza's charms eventually win out, and Dufresne misses his return train to Paris and spends the night with his enchantress. Falling deeply in love, Zaza abandons her career and her partner, Cascart, for the pursuit of her romance. Meanwhile, Cascart accidentally discovers that Dufresne has a wife in Paris and, concerned for Zaza's well being, informs her of her lover's secret life. Furious, Zaza determines to confront the other woman and banish her from Dufresne's life. She goes to Paris where, while waiting to speak to her rival, Zaza meets Dufresne's little daughter Toto and comes to realize that Dufresne really loves his wife and daughter. Leaving Paris without ever revealing Dufresne's duplicity to his wife, Zaza confronts her lover with the truth when he pays her a visit the next night, and he walks out of her life. Zaza then pours her energy into the stage and, three years later, has become a star of the Follies. On opening night, Dufresne comes to see her perform, but Zaza sings a song of parting, forcing him to realize that theirs is a forbidden love. Dufresne leaves the theater, never to see her again.

Storyline:
Theo Tomasis, from humble beginnings, is an aging Greek shipping magnate who works on his own moral (or amoral as the case may be) code, both professionally and personally, to get what and who he wants in life. The "who"s include a bevy of bed partners who don't generally include his wife, Simi Tomasis. He dotes on his son, Nico Tomasis, who he wants to follow in his footsteps in all aspects, Nico, a daredevil, especially in the air, also enjoying the high life in the process. He ends up divorcing Simi in order to marry Liz Cassidy, the grieving widow of US President James Cassidy, who was assassinated while he and Liz were walking on a beach. Liz's marriage to Theo is in part to escape the spotlight not only of being the widow of a President, but part of a high profile and powerful American political family, James' brother, John Cassidy, who was the Attorney General in James' administration. Theo had been attracted to Liz on first sight, meeting her and James when James was still a senator.
